Recently, during a trip to the range with a good friend, I had the pleasure of firing his .45 Model 1911. It was Springfield Armory's version and it ran flawlessly. While I've always been a fan of the 1911, the experience had exceeded my expectations.
The feel was great. In my hand, it was truly an extension of the shooter. Triggerpull was perfect (I estimate in the 3lb range). It was probably the most comfortable handgun I have ever fired, and I have tried a variety of makes and models in my years. Groups were tight,
ranging in the 1.5" range at 10-12 yards (that's an extremely conservative estimate of course).
VERDICT: while a good 1911 will run upwards of $600, it is well worth it (providing your budget will support it).
This handgun is amazingly light considering it is loaded with .45 cal ammo and would be quite suitable for concealed carry. Definitely a good choice to rely on for protection of self and loved ones.
Over and out...
